Park Let’s new daily-parking-space service will enable more people to rent out their idle parking spaces as it gives the ‘landlord’ greater flexibility about when they are happy to have their space occupied and for how long. Motorists will also benefit by being able to find good value parking in sought-after locations for the exact length of time they require.
- Listing a parking space, bay or garage on the site is free.
- Park Let does not deduct any commission from the ‘landlord’s’ rent.
- No registration is required for motorists carrying out searches.
Luke Kelly, Managing Director at Park Let said: “Everyone’s been to a concert, event, or needed to drive in to the centre of an unfamiliar city and not known where they can park. Our new service is designed to meet that requirement – matching up any one or any organisation that has a car parking space that they don’t use with motorists in need. Being able to pre-book a space and know that it’s reserved for you takes away one of motorists’ biggest headaches. Just imagine going to the O2, Symphony Hall or Old Trafford and having all of your parking cost-effectively arranged in advance.”
The process of letting and renting a space
To use Park Let’s new daily parking service, the space owner or landlord simply inputs details themselves to the site. The motorist then enters a location (specific venue, postcode or city) or uses the interactive map to select an area or even an exact building. The improved search facility shows results which can be sorted by various factors such as price, distance from location or type of space. The motorist then contacts the landlord by email or telephone (using an allocated pin code) and payment is arranged between the two parties: cash, cheque or online bank transfer.
Kelly continued: “Our monthly or season ticket business is extremely successful – particularly at the moment as everyone is seeking to maximise their income or cut back on expenditure. However, we realised that by launching a daily parking service we can help more people make and save money. In fact, some of our landlords have already chosen to advertise their spaces on both our daily and monthly sites so that while they are waiting to find a long-term tenant they can still be earning money.”
City centres, areas near popular sporting and entertainment venues and shopping centres are most lucrative for daily landlords and are also where motorists can save the most money compared to other car parking options. Park Let also sees very local hot-spots such as areas where there is mainly residential on-road parking, near busy hospitals, doctors and dentists surgeries and schools. Other factors that influence the price include proximity to congestion zones and security.
Park Let was the first company in the UK to help property owners rent out their parking spaces on a monthly/season ticket basis and will continue to run this business in parallel to the daily parking space operation. The company has arranged over 10,000 rental contracts and has in excess of 20,000 parking spaces available to rent immediately across the UK.
