Whilst “data” has been available for sometime on “regular” SIMs, it’s relatively new to global, or international SIM cards. GeoSIM uses GPRS and can provide speeds up to 3G in around 90 countries.
Ed Neal, Managing Director of Geodesa Limited, who distributes GeoSIM says “many travellers are now using web enabled handsets and PDAs when travelling abroad. Up until today, GeoSIM could only be used for voice and SMS. Now customers can benefit from the convenience of having GPRS Data, email, SMS and voice all on one global SIM and with the benefit of the large savings GeoSIM offers when using mobiles abroad.” Ed goes on to say that customers and resellers are very excited about the new functionality on GeoSIM.
Geodesa has seen a huge surge in sales of GeoSIM recently as businesses look to reduce mobile roaming costs due to the credit crunch. The introduction of GPRS data is sure to increase sales even more.
