Increasingly busy lives mean that homeowners are always looking for new and efficient ways to get jobs done. idealo wanted to find out how consumer interest in robotic devices around the home is evolving. They looked at the demand and price trends in two categories: robot vacuum cleaners and robot lawn mowers.
Demand
- 1 in 10 consumers browsing vacuum cleaners is interested in a robotic model.
- 1 in 6 shoppers looking to buy a lawn mower will consider a robotic device.
Consumer interest in robot vacuum cleaners now makes up 10% of the entire demand in the category, having more than doubled in the last 5 years. Robot lawn mowers are even more popular, with an increase of 1671%, 8 times more popular than 5 years ago.
Price
- On average, a robot vacuum cleaner costs GBP 79.96 more than a conventional machine.
- Robotic lawn mowers cost on average GBP 1110.25 more than a non-automated model.
Despite the higher cost of robot models, this move towards robotic machines indicates consumers are increasingly interested in automated help around the home.
