The breakthrough technology was originally conceived by the Group’s subsidiary consulting business Sagentia, and has been nurtured and subsequently patented as Intrasonics ‘Sound Link and Sync’. The technology can be used across a number of applications including interactive gaming and advertising.
Mainframe Participaties B.V. is an innovative and dynamic Dutch private equity house, with shareholders active in the Telecoms, Media and Entertainment space. Mainframe Participaties B.V. bought 100 percent of Intrasonics including the expert management team.
Rob Morland, CEO of Intrasonics, says: “Our whole team has worked hard to develop Intrasonics to a position where we can commercialise the technology. Our partnership with Mainframe Participaties B.V. will put us in the best possible position and the team is looking forward to working with them to make Intrasonics the global standard for acoustic data communications.”
Intrasonics works by communicating directly between a broadcaster and mobile handsets via data transmitted in the sound of ordinary broadcasts. The data is embedded in the audio and is unobtrusive to the listener. The sound and data is picked up by the microphone in the mobile and can be decoded to enable a compelling range of new interactive experiences for the consumer.
Luc Jonker, CEO of Mainframe Participaties B.V. comments: “This recent acquisition is a perfect mould with the shareholders’ vision of seamless cross media interaction, ensuring that end users are able to engage with relevant media in a highly personalised manner. We are very excited about this recent acquisition and believe the Intrasonics technology could potentially change the landscape of interactive media forever. Our vision is to bring interactivity into every household around the world by changing the way in which consumers currently interact with their TVs or radios.”
Martin Frost, CEO of Sagentia Group adds; “I am pleased that, in Mainframe Participaties B.V., we have found an organisation capable of quickly building channels to market for the Intrasonics technology. I wish Mainframe Participaties, Rob Morland and the team every success in the future”.
