Electronia is already established as a provider of secure, cost efficient wireless and broadband communications and has expanded its services to include vehicle tracking and smart card applications.

Targetting the six GCC (Gulf Co-operation Council) countries – the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait – Electronia will market Matrix-based location based services to operators and enterprises.

Initially, the two companies will collaborate on a first deployment in one of these GCC countries. The deployment , in cooperation with the local wireless operator and regional value added service providers will showcase Matrix’s capabilities to deliver high accuracy location, fast fix times and all-environment coverage.

Electronia has already established a significant market share in the region’s fleet management sector with its Eltrac-GCS vehicle tracking system – which uses GPS-based technology.

Electronia Vice President Business Development Tariq Husain said: “Location services is one of the leading new opportunities in the Middle East to leverage the operators wireless networks and increase their AARPU. We have researched all of the LBS standardized technologies available today and believe that Matrix has the best solution. Matrix has overcome the high cost , high response time and poor coverage associated with AGPS and also overcome the erratic and poor accuracy of Cell-ID while providing a cost effective, high accuracy solution today.. We are excited about our partnership with CPS and what their technology can bring to our company and customers. “

CPS CEO Chris Wade said: “We are seeing increasing levels of demand from the Middle East region for services such as asset and vehicle tracking. Electronia’s well-established presence in the region and strong links with the operator and enterprise communities creates a powerful platform for the delivery of Matrix-enabled services across the region.”
