EDA Exhibitions has announced that the Embedded Systems Show (ESS) 2007 will take place on 17 and 18 October at the NEC, Birmingham. Now in its 13th year, the Embedded Systems Show is the UK’s largest event for system engineers and embedded software developers. Alongside the core exhibition, the Embedded Systems Show will feature a technical conference, hands-on training classes and free design workshops.

The Embedded Systems Show 2007 builds on the success of ESS 2006 with over thirty new exhibitors, maintaining its status as the key UK forum for the embedded system design community. The annual event provides an opportunity for exhibitors and speakers to share technical knowledge and expertise, and connect leading suppliers of semiconductors, boards, modules and development tools with decision-makers from the UK’s leading electronics OEMs and systems houses. New to this year’s proceedings, ESS will also offer visitors free access to practical design solution workshops run by leading and emerging embedded system and application development tool vendors, including Green Hills Software, MKS, Coverity, Verum, Mentor Graphics, Tech Excel and Telelogic.

Exhibition Director Andrew Porter says: “The Embedded Systems Show, now in its 13th consecutive year, is focused on addressing the real commercial and technical pressures facing the industry today. The comprehensive array of design and development solutions on display will be a demonstration of the ever-evolving industry and the competitive new technologies and solutions available to those within it. The technical conference, training classes and workshops have been designed to help industry practitioners extract as much commercial benefit as possible from the solutions on display, and will explore the current issues and emerging trends driving our industry for the coming year.”

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Europe’s largest professional body for electronic engineers, is again the principal sponsor for the technical conference at ESS 2007, lending both its name and expertise to the forum. The technical conference sessions will follow four key topics – embedded security, future embedded systems technologies, design of dependable systems and model-driven design for software. Presentations will be in a new format this year: one-hour advanced tutorials, allowing expert presenters to explore their themes in depth. Confirmed speakers include key technical personnel from Symantec, QinetiQ, Rolls Royce, Eleksen, Cambridge Consultants and others.

ESS also offers a more designer-oriented programme of hands-on experiences for embedded systems development in an expanded programme of training classes. Provided by professional training company Feabhas, half-day classes will focus on developing in Embedded Linux, an introduction to SysML and advanced skills in C Programming.
