In terms of individual countries, Finland recorded the highest revenue growth in this sector. Germany was the strongest of the major markets with the UK in 17th place at 6.07% growth. The region impacted most by the economic downturn in this sector was Eastern Europe with Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia and Latvia all recording revenue declines in excess of 25%. In terms of individual companies, Computacenter Plc. again topped the list followed by Specialist Computer Holdings Plc. with Atea ASA in third place.
Generally, it seems that the corporate reseller market has been struggling in the last few years, says IT Europa analyst Auri Aittokallio. This is hardly surprising as companies and public sector organisations have been forced to cut back on IT spend. Public sector bodies across Europe have especially had to tighten belts and some in the UK have called on the government to continue to press suppliers for cheaper deals and extended payment times, she says.
