Fiber Optic Tender Went to Med-Nautilus

Med-Nautilus has won Turk Telekom’s tender of the submarine fiber optic cable infrastructure beginning from the Mediterranean and ending at Europe and USA, aiming to provide a broader extent of access.

Med-Nautilus, Tyco Telecommunications, Alcatel Submarine Systems and Pirelli Submarine Systems had made offer for the Submarine Fiber Optic Cable System Tender, called by Turk Telekom, for the purpose of providing broad extent access from the Mediterranean to Europe and USA.

According to the information from Turk Telekom, it is noted that Authority of Public Tender and other firms who joined the tender have been informed that Med-Nautilus firm is awarded the tender and the studies for the contract with Med-Nautilus are initiated.

Submarine fiber optic cable infrastructure system considers installation of submarine f/o cable system between a terminal station in Turkey and a terminal station in Italy, France or Spain. Total traffic conduction capacity of the system to be installed is 1,28Tbit/s. This capacity will be enhanced phase by phase, starting from 20Gbit/s.

System will have power supply with technologically latest cable types, computerized control and high capacity DWDM equipment.

ADSL TENDER FOR 200 THOUSAND PORTS

According to the information from Turk Telekom, technical sufficiency tests of 11 firms that applied for the ADSL tender of 200 Thousand ports, are currently being carried out. Firms subject to technical sufficiency examinations are: Sagem Sa Corecess, Siemens, Marconi, Meteksan, Gate-Mht joint venture, Netpa, Koç System, Karel KT(Koera Telecom), Alcatel Teletas…

After having completed technical sufficiency tests of those firms, price offers will be received.
