The Traffic Information System Project, carried out by Siemens Business Services (SBS) Turkey using Turkcell’s GPRS sub-structure, will be put into practice in the demonstration meeting held at METU Conference Centre on 10 July, 2003, and will include the participation of Gökhan Aydiner, General Police Director.

Meanwhile, “MOBESE/FOUR-C” (the City Direction Centre), wherein Turkcell participated as a project associate, was recently awarded the prize “the Best Mobile Application”.

With its nationwide and modern GPRS substructure, Turkcell has become the preferred mobile operator to realise major mobile e-state projects. These carry a great importance and prestige within Turkey, implying the extent of the geographical applicability of the e-state concept.

The Traffic Information System Project aims to provide continuous information communication between security teams, making traffic control on highways and city centres more efficient.

Solutions offered by the Traffic Information System include fines being charged on location through the internet; instant on location access to databases regarding drivers licences, vehicle registration, individual records and penalty points; ability to track the location where security teams are through a map of Turkey at an information centre; accident information and accident locations being recorded with coordinates; increased ability to analyse and publicise statistics about accidents.

The project makes it possible to control vehicles and drivers much more efficiently by administration of these actions from a single information centre.
