The Double Dual GbE Transponder can be installed in any TM-Series chassis,
including the 1 RU (Rack Unit) TM-101 subrack, creating a compact fully integrated WDM node with add/drop optical filters, multiple GigE client signals, protection and in band management capabilities. With a selling price of well under $10,000, this solution is optimized to address the fast growing IP-traffic backhaul market.
“The card is ideally suited for “Triple-play” applications, where operators
need high bandwidth to transfer TV, telephony and Internet services over an
IP network, at very low cost. The response from our customers regarding
this unit is very positive and we expect it to become a high volume product
within our portfolio”, said Magnus berg, Transmode’s Chief Technology Officer.
By providing this extensive functionality with the flexibility and operational expenditure (OPEX) advantages of Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) optics in a compact transponder unit, Transmode is providing network operators with unprecedented network design options. This unit is already proving very popular with Transmode’s existing customer base and has been a key factor in some of Transmode’s recent customer wins, including Telenor, the Tier 1 Norwegian PTT and Global Service Provider.
