LINX chairman Grahame Davies said:
Nigel played a pivotal role in ensuring that LINX became one of the world’s leading Internet exchanges and LINX owes much of its success to Nigel’s extensive Industry expertise and sound judgement. We thank him sincerely for his tireless contribution over the past twelve years.
We are pleased to welcome Patrick to LINX Council. As its first overseas based director, LINX will undoubtedly benefit from a different perspective and I am looking forward to working closely with Patrick to ensure LINX’s continued success.
Patrick Gilmore is responsible for peering at Akamai Technologies, personally overseeing the companies direct participation at 26 Internet exchanges.
Looking forward to his new role, Patrick commented:
As a Council member my primary focus will be in targetting increased utility of LINX for UK-based networks and creating an upsurge in the amount of traffic networks can pass at the exchange. LINX has been incredibly successful in the UK and in Europe and I strongly believe that input from outside the region will help develop a more global perspective and enable LINX to push the boundaries further.
LINX Members also re-elected Raza Rizvi of Opal Solutions who, after serving a total of four years on LINX Council, has ably demonstrated his commitment to making LINX the clear choice for companies seeking to improve the delivery of their content to the Internet community. During the past year, LINX membership grew by 35% and the amount of traffic passed over the exchange more than doubled.
