London, UK, 2 October 2012: The UK has the potential to become the best place in the world for entrepreneurs to start and grow innovative digital businesses, but the future progress of many UK start-ups is under pressure due to the difficulty of finding the best digital talent and persuading these software engineers, designers and product managers to join a start-up.

There are currently more than 2,500 tech start-up job vacancies being advertised in the UK and start-ups are pulling out all the stops to find and hire highly-skilled staff to these positions.

The Silicon Milkroundabout jobs fair returns to Londons Tech City in November seeking to match 130 of the UK’s top tech start-ups with 3,000 developers, product managers, and designers.

The two-day event will see start-ups, including Badoo, Wonga, graze.com, Songkick, Moshi Monsters and MOO.com, look to reward the most talented software engineers, product managers, and designers with 800 jobs.

Co-founder of the event Pete Smith, also co-founder of concert alerts service Songkick, said: Hiring great people is the only way a start-up can succeed and get big. Yet one of the biggest challenges UK start-ups face is getting the most talented people to think about working for a start-up, rather than take the traditional route in a larger company.

Were very lucky that, in a tough time for the economy, the high-tech sector is bucking the downward trend, capital is being invested, and technology start-ups are experiencing growth and job creation.

The Silicon Milkroundabout job fair brings together top tech start-ups with top tech talent. We want to show how, in working for a start-up, you can have a great time along for the ride at a high-growth company, and learn enough to perhaps found your own start-up in the future and become one of the UKs next high-tech entrepreneurs.

Up to 130 UK start-ups will come together on the weekend of 10-11 November 2012 in the Old Truman Brewery warehouse on Brick Lane at the heart of the UKs Tech City – to offer 800 jobs to attendees specialising in Software Engineering, Product Management, User Experience (UX) Design, Visual Design, and Intelligence/Analytics.

Benjamin Southworth, deputy CEO of the Tech City Investment Organisation, said: “The success of Silicon Milkroundabout reflects the success and growth in the tech sector here in the UK. It has become one of the most anticipated events of the year for the Tech City community.

It’s a great platform for talented developers and designers to connect with some of the most innovative businesses in the country.”

Previous events in 05/11, 10/11 and 05/12 attracted 4,076 jobseekers to meet 154 start-ups. So far 336 jobs have been filled, and an estimated 5,040,000 saved on recruitment fees.
