London and Bonn, 12 April 2010. Softwareload.co.uk, Deutsche Telekom’s software download portal, has launched its UK mobile store containing more than 15,000 mobile applications for download. Visitors will be able to shop for apps ranging from business software, games, navigation, communication and organisational tools, and securely install them directly onto their mobile device or via their PC.

“Consumers and business people alike are using mobile devices far more often for work or entertainment on the move. As a result they’re demanding wider access to exciting new apps to make the most of their mobiles,” said Dirk Lebzien, Head of Softwareload. “With the launch of our UK mobile store on Softwareload.co.uk, shoppers can choose from more than 15,000 software titles that they can quickly and securely install onto their mobile device.”

Analyst group Gartner estimates that by 2013, mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device worldwide. Softwareload.co.uk’s UK mobile store will offer apps compatible with BlackBerry, PalmOS, Symbian and Windows Mobile, including free titles. Customers can download and install software onto their mobile phone either via their PC or directly onto their handheld device*. Users can also see which titles are compatible with their particular mobile prior to purchase.

Customers can also take advantage of Softwareload.co.uk’s 12-month download guarantee, which enables them to store their purchase securely online should they need to install it on a new mobile device during that period.

In Germany, where Softwareload.co.uk’s sister site Softwareload.de accounts for more than 1.5 million registered users, the most popular mobile applications include communication tools, travel and holiday, and more. Current best sellers include mobile email service ProfiMail and Simworks Anti-Virus.
