The SonicWALL PRO 1260 from SonicWALL, a leading provider of integrated security, productivity and mobility solutions, is a total security and switching platform for small businesses and branch offices. This highly affordable appliance ships in an unrestricted node configuration and integrates support for SonicWALL’s portfolio of leading security services together with 24-port LAN switching in a single, scalable solution.

The new appliance combines deep inspection firewall, IPSec VPN, gateway anti-virus, intrusion prevention, and content filtering capabilities with a wire-speed, 24-port auto-sensing MDIX Layer 2 switch. It is available in two options, either Standard, offering an unmanaged option for straightforward networks, or Enhanced, offering comprehensive, managed switching including the ability to create custom deep inspection security zones between each of the switch ports.

“The combination of both deep inspection security and integrated switching is a compelling market offering,” said Hannah Kent, director, AIS, a SonicWALL Gold Medallion partner. “Our SMB customers will be attracted by the prospect of removing a layer of complexity from their network administration using this device, while giving them access to powerful security features such as deep packet inspection, Gateway Anti-Virus and VLAN support.

“Small businesses and branch offices have a lot to gain from an integrated solution that saves time and money, and can be deployed and managed without difficulty,” said Matt Medeiros, president and CEO at SonicWALL. “”All networks require security and switching, but few small businesses have access to the dedicated IT personnel needed to manage these functions. The PRO 1260 is a breakthrough networking option, which offers small businesses an exceptional level of control and flexibility.”

The PRO 1260 is offered in two versions, Standard and Advanced. For networks with more complex requirements, the PRO 1260 Enhanced integrates features such as custom security zones, traffic monitoring, and port-level configurability for duplex and speed. A fully-managed L2 switch enables users to create port-based VLAN and security services and flexible port assignments. The PRO 1260 Enhanced provides support for IGMP multicast,
post mirroring and monitoring and traffic statistics reporting, and additionally supports Wireless LAN.

Designed for simple, small business networks, the PRO 1260 Standard ships with SonicWALL’s newly-released SonicOS 3.0 Standard, adding significant features such as DDNS, a streamlined Web GUI and a comprehensive suite of easy-to-use configuration and management wizards.

Every PRO 1260 comes with 30 days of SonicWALL’s Gateway Anti-Virus/Intrusion Prevention Service, Network Anti-Virus and Content Filtering Service, VoIP, and Anti-Spam for true multi-layered security.

The SonicWALL PRO 1260 Standard, priced at 815, will be available during Q4 of 2004. The SonicWALL PRO 1260 Enhanced will be available during Q1 of 2005.
