24 September, 2012, Neuss Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG), Storage Peripheral Division, has today announced the launch of its smallest and thinnest portable hard drive yet, the STOR.E Slim[1]. This easy to use external storage device offers users high capacity storage of 500GB, with data protection to back up irreplaceable data. The STOR.E Slim has a sleek design with brushed aluminium, available in black or silver.

In a market where electronic devices are becoming increasingly thinner and lighter to fit into our busy, fast paced lives, the STOR.E Slim is perfectly designed to be portable and simple to use. The device is one of the thinnest, lightest and smallest on the market at 107mm long, 75mm wide and only 9mm thick, ideal for storage on the go. And, with plug and play technology, users can back up valuable data quickly and easily.

This HDD may be tiny, but boasts 500GB[2] of capacity. The STOR.E Slim is capable of storing up to 142,000 digital photos or 131,000 digital music files or 410 downloaded digital movies[3]. With this kind of capacity even data hoarders can store their whole digital library in their briefcase, handbag or even back pocket.

As we increasingly rely on digital content, its essential that all our valuable data is backed up. With data safely stored on the STOR.E Slim HDD, users are safe in the knowledge they can still retrieve their data even if their laptop is lost or stolen. Users can choose between backing up files to the HDD, the cloud, the computer, or all three for the most comprehensive coverage possible. Not only this, but the STOR.E Slim is password protected to ensure all files are stored securely on the device.

The drive also comes with NTI Backup Now EZ software preloaded, which scans the computer system and recommends the best coverage for your computer. The STOR.E Slim also works seamlessly with any electronic device, regardless of whether it runs on Windows or Apple Mac OS operating systems[4].

The new STOR.E HDD range provides an easy storage solution for backing up valuable data and freeing up storage space on overloaded laptops, PCs or games consoles. The extension of our 3.0 USB external HDD range demonstrates our commitment to delivering cutting-edge storage solutions. Toshibas new STOR.E 3.0 portable hard drive range makes backup fast and simple, with a digital safety net against system failure. said Arnaud Bonvarlet, Director EMEA, Storage Peripheral Division, Toshiba Europe GmbH.

Toshiba is leading innovation in the consumer electronics market, using its unique insight into the needs of consumers to create storage devices that slip into our daily lives. The STOR.E Slim provides a natural storage extension for any computing devices, a truly portable, slim, sleek and easy to use HDD. Data storage is quicker and easier than ever and anyone from students and professionals can be safe in the knowledge that all their data is securely backed up.

The STOR.E Slim will be available from September 2012 in retail shops across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
