We hear that organizational studies are being carried away at Avea. Also a big change is noted with their advertisements. It is also a matter of curiosity if they will join with Turkish Telecom. We asked all of these to Turktan:
At What Stage are Aveas Organizational Works? We Know that the 2 Different Cultures of Aycell and Aria have caused problems at first years. What is the Situation Now?
Cuneyt Turktan : When we came to management in year 2005 we saw this; yes the offices of the 2 firms were brought together but there was not unison amongst their cultures. It was a company with 40 % TIM, 40 TT % and 20% bank partnership. Bank did not have any effect but the different cultures of TIM and TT were causing clashes.
When TIM sold its shares and left the management, the removal of the culture problem became easier. He continues to say What we did in year 2006 from the organizational point of view was to keep the people who were suitable for Avea culture and to select new recruits who will be suitable for the Avea culture.
When making up the organization, we tried to form result oriented, responsible higherarchy management and establish higherarchy management values. We tried to get the hierarchy management generally from inside. We received assistance from outside for the middle level so that it moves faster.
We want friends who are fast to make decisions and to apply them. We settled the culture about 90-95 %. We settled are organization. Now we are working with a team spirit and are improving this culture.
Are You Going to Unite With Turkish Telecom?
Cuneyt Turktan : It is not on the agenda. AS you know, even TT net got separated. For the sake of free rivalry, it dos not look like that mobile will unite with immobile in the near future. But we will have joint works, transversal sales. We are assessing this right now; for example, selling ADSL in our dealers, Avea sales in TT dealers.
There seems to be a change in your advertisement
Cuneyt Turktan : The messages we wish to give are messages that will increase the Avea culture and recognition. We are trying to give clear messages. We explain that both the coverage areas has improved, and also tell about price. Instead of stars, we are using real, local people, real people. We are explaining our services and products with simple advertisements.
You Received Syndication Credit. How Do You Plan to Use This?
Cuneyt Turktan : We will use thie credit to spread out the present debts. Up until today we always used credits that needed to be returned within 6 months. But now we have spred our debt of 1,3 billion $s to a long term of 8-9 years. We have covered last and this years investments from this credit. We are relieved.
Have you got an intention of IPO?
Cuneyt Turktan : We need to strengthen our institutional structure in order to go public. Need to become transparent. When the partners see it fit, we believe we can go public in 2-3 years time. It can be assessed with Turkish Telecom.
