Following the success of last years awards event, for a second year in a row, Women in Gaming has again, effectively recognised women who have stepped up to the plate in a male dominated industry.
The day kicked off with a networking event where like-minded industry experts from across the world had the opportunity to liaise and interact with other professional high-flyers. Fascinating topics on the day captured the audiences attention with a social media debate, talks about the explosive growth in mobile gaming and a leader panel discussion based on Poker is it the ultimate ladies game?
It definitely got the ball rolling with how the industry is morphing in an ever-changing gaming and technological environment.
The highlight of the glittering event was rounded off with a glamorous awards ceremony in which the crme de la crme of the most talented and recognisable women in the industry were honoured in their very own spotlight. It principally offered a platform for women who had worked tirelessly to reach that milestone.
The motivating event stemmed from the need to recognise exceptional women working across the land based and iGaming industry sectors. The award winners reflect that since stepping into the industry, they have become inspirational role models. Winners have certainly showcased the positive prospects the industry offers and the exciting national and international career opportunities it holds.
Building upon their status and commitment within gaming, they have certainly the paved way for other ambitious, inspirational women to follow suit.
The presenter on the night was John Briggs, famously known for his voiceover on the BBCs The Weakest Link.
The impressive host of reputable speakers offered a vibrant mix of high-flyers. The speakers included Philipp Mohr who runs Comufy, a Social Media marketing company. He is an expert on Social Media engagement strategies and helps companies get their strategies spot on.
Onika Russel was another speaker on the night; she currently holds the position of Head of Payment at Ladbrokes PLC, one of the largest UK betting and gaming operators. Her role involves overall responsibility for payments and chargeback management across the Digital Division of the business. Commander Wendeen H. Eolis is CEO of Eolis International Group was another impressive speaker on the night. She is a legal/business/government affairs consultancy with 40 years of experience in the gaming space internationally.
Mark Blandford, Founder and Director of Sportingbet Plc and now a successful venture capital investor. Mark was the owner of a traditional bricks and mortar bookmakers chain for over 15 years. He recognised the power of the internet in the 90s and launched Sportingbet.com from Alderney in 1998. A trend which has become a hot topic within the gaming world.
Putting a positive face on gambling and highlighting its ability to contribute to worthy causes, Women in Gamings chosen charity is Break Through Breast Cancer. The charity hopes to save lives and support sufferers of all ages. By raising awareness and as much money as possible, from sponsored walks, runs to climbing the Great Wall of China, Break Through Breast Cancer helps women live free from the fear of cancer.
