Vodafone Italy and Fastweb announce joint broadband initiative

Vodafone Italy customers buying Vodafone Casa Fastweb will be able to use their normal Vodafone services on their mobiles, make mobile voice calls to fixed line phones at fixed rates whilst at home and have access to Fastweb’s broadband network, which covers approximately half the population of Italy at speeds of up to 20Mbps.

Customers will be able to choose from a contract or pre-paid version of the service, which will be based on the the two current Vodafone Casa
offerings: Vodafone Casa Zero and Infinity Casa. Vodafone Casa is a fixed to mobile substitution service which enables customers to buy a bundle of minutes for a fixed monthly fee. Customers are then able to call fixed line numbers from their Vodafone mobiles whilst at home for a small fee per call.

The service will be sold through Vodafone Italy’s distribution channels and will be technically supported by Fastweb.

The joint initiative will also co-market and cross-sell to Vodafone Italy and Fastweb customers and will seek to create and market joint offerings for the business market.

Today’s announcement from Vodafone Italy follows recent announcements by Vodafone UK and Vodafone Germany. Vodafone UK announced on 11 September its intention to launch fixed broadband services through a partnership agreement with BT. Vodafone Germany launched a new flat rate service offering fixed, mobile and DSL services on 1 September.
These announcements are consistent with Vodafone Group’s strategic intent to develop products and services which meet its customers’ total communication needs.
