Why Organisations Shouldnt Fear the Rise of the Robot

Wednesday 6 July 2016 – Following Londons Technology Week, talent acquisition and management specialist, Alexander Mann Solutions is encouraging organisations and industry experts to consider the benefits of robots in the workforce.

The global talent expert is advising organisations that a fear of technology in the form of robots could hamper innovation and future productivity. Alexander Mann Solutions suggests that leaders tap into the knowledge of the network that gathered for last weeks annual London Technology Week convention and make the most of developments now, before the competition pips them to the post.

Laurie Padua, Director of Technology and Operations Consulting at Alexander Mann Solutions comments:

When we talk of the rise of robots many are struck with fear and arguably horror at the thought of jobs being replaced by technology and a reduction in human interaction. But the simple fact is robots can be hugely beneficial in many elements of a businesss operations, without impacting headcount.

Indeed, we now have seven Robotic Process Automations (RPA) deployed in a variety of trials in order to make the routine elements of the hiring process as efficient, fast and accurate as possible. As a result, big brands in the global energy sector and retail banking arena have already seen vast improvements in the efficiency of hiring and on-boarding processes.

The implementation of RPA, software and technology into a company should, in our view, be carried out with the intention of supporting and improving existing processes, not to replace human interaction. And given that there will be a need for skilled individuals to implement and manage these systems on an on-going basis, the idea that robots will lead to a reduction in headcount is simply untrue. I would call on businesses to take advantage of the insight shared at Tech Week to look at the possibility of embracing robots in their organisation in order to achieve their true potential.
